NewsBridges maintains a working directory of news sources by region: major outlets and significant independent and new media, in native languages and English. These pages exist because good, honest lists of “where people actually get their news” are surprisingly hard to find, and because the sources behind a story often say as much as the story itself.
Regional Directories
- Asia & Pacific News Sources
- Europe News Sources
- Middle East News Sources
- Africa News Sources
- Americas News Sources
How these pages are built
Each regional page covers a handful of larger countries in depth, plus a shorter list of additional sources for countries not yet covered fully. For every country, sources are split into two groups: established, mainstream outlets, and independent or new media, meaning outlets operating outside major ownership groups, whether nonprofit, subscriber-funded, or otherwise structurally independent.
Descriptions are factual: ownership, funding model, and editorial reputation. We do not score outlets for bias. Where a country’s press is state-controlled or independent journalism operates under serious restriction, that is stated plainly rather than smoothed over or padded out with sources that do not meet the bar. The same applies in reverse: an outlet’s flaws or controversies, where documented and relevant, are noted rather than omitted.
These directories are incomplete by design and will keep growing. Each page carries a “last reviewed” date, since source lists go stale and link rot is real; treat that date as a guide to how current a given page is.
