About Newsbridges

This site aims to help people understand the world through more than one country’s eyes. Most news, wherever you’re reading it from, is written for a domestic audience first: it assumes a shared context, leads with the angle that matters most at home, and rarely explains how the same story looks from somewhere else. NewsBridges tries to do both at once, showing how a story is being covered domestically, including where domestic coverage itself disagrees, and how it’s being seen internationally, or noting plainly when it isn’t being covered internationally at all.

NewsBridges.com is part of the Worldbridges network, a long-running project built around global conversation, multi-perspective education, and ethical commerce. The network was founded by Jeff Lebow, an educator, longtime expat, and the person who has been buying “bridges” domains since the days of Netscape and AltaVista. A few bridges have been active at various points, but many have remained dormant for years. This is one of the sites in active development.

To whatever extent business is conducted here, we want to promote fair trade, decent treatment of human workers, and the fairest possible compensation to those who produce content and keep things running. On the editorial side, that same commitment to fairness means naming ownership and funding where it’s known, distinguishing state media from independent media honestly, and citing sources rather than reproducing their work wholesale.

NewsBridges content currently comes in three formats: News (a current story told through its domestic framing, including internal disagreement, and its international reception, or the lack of one), Explainers (background on how something actually works, not pegged to a single news event), and Media Watch (the press and media landscape itself as the subject). We also maintain a growing directory of regional news sources, covering major outlets and significant independent and new media by country. Much of the content is AI-assisted and human edited. A positive, trustworthy reader experience is prioritized over chasing clicks.
